OUTREACH

WE ARE THOSE WHO FIND THE LOST AND BRING THEM IN...

Jesus: Compel them to come in...

And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

3 WAYS TO REACH OUT

Digital

We live in a world driven by social media. If it's not shared on social, did it really happen?

Sharing the message and mission of the church online is a great way to share the Gospel, and it has a 2-stage effect.

The first stage is the people who see what you share.

The second stage is the algorithms that increase the reach of every post thanks to your engagement with it. You sharing a social post increases the number of people who see each and every share - a snowball effect.

Personal

Personal evangelism is the most effective method of sharing the Gospel with the world. Word of mouth outweighs any other form of information.

Some think this is badgering everyone and making people uncomfortable.

This is not what personal evangelism is.

Instead, personal evangelism is to be ready always to give an answer to the hope that is in you. When you're full of the Spirit, people notice. And when you're ready to share your testimony, opportunities arise from people asking.

Conventional

Conventional evangelism is when we reach to people outside of our sphere of influence to raise awareness for special events or services.

Though not as effective as word-of-mouth, it still is worth the efforts.

It can take up to 5-10 times of someone seeing a message before they notice it. Conventional outreach is the efforts to fill that gap - and keep the message going so that people will eventually notice what they didn't notice before.

God blesses conventional outreach in ways that are truly miraculous.

Digital Outreach Methods

Influencer

The influencer is a creator. This is the person who is creating their own content for their followers promoting the church and its message.

Ideas for Influencers:

  • Take photos & share

  • Take videos & share

  • Make promotional content

Sharer

The sharer is a content curator. This is the person who is following on all the social channels and continuously shares the church content with their followers.

Ideas for sharers:

  • Follow all social channels

  • Subscribe to mailing lists

  • Share 1-3 posts daily

Engager

The engager helps extend the reach of all digital content to a larger audience by giving the algorithms of the platforms signals that the content is interesting.

Ideas for sharers:

  • Follow all social channels

  • Engage & comment on posts

  • Volunteer as moderators online

Personal Outreach Methods

Storyteller

The storyteller has a testimony and is experienced telling it. The storyteller is looking for times to insert their story in a natural way.

Ideas:

  • Practice telling your story

  • Listen for opportunities

  • Be open for questions

Bible Teacher

The Bible Teacher is often a storyteller too. This is the logical next-step after the testimony. When someone wants to share the experience, the Bible study shows how.

Ideas for sharers:

  • Offer following questions

  • Have Bible Studies ready for multiple occasions

  • Include Bible Studies into your testimony story.

Disciple-Maker

The disciple-maker isn't any different than a normal person. They are just always aware of those around them, and looking for opportunities to bring them one step closer to Jesus.

Ideas for sharers:

  • Love people

  • Be involved in people's lives

  • Go to the same stores/shops often and get to know people

Conventional Outreach Methods

Door-Hanger

Going door-to-door is a time-tested method of sharing anything, from products to politics. Going door-to-door to invite people to church works, and God blesses in unique ways.

Ideas:

  • Target quadrants of city blocks

  • Take literature with you

  • Be ready to share testimonies

Flyer-Spreader

The flyer spreader is similar to the door-hanger, but usually stands in a busy place handing out flyers in person. Again, though not the flashiest method, it works and God blesses. Some people love doing this.

Ideas:

  • Take stacks of flyers

  • Hand out freebies, like bottled water

  • Be super-polite, not rude or obnoxious.

Special Event-er

These are volunteers who help promote the church during special events, like concerts or special outreaches. They could be handing out flyers or praying with those who ask.

Ideas:

  • Monitor the calendar

  • Volunteer with event leaders

  • Show up early and ready to make a difference!
